Third Slovenian LEGO Trial Truck meeting, Ljubljana -
June 11th 2010
Third LEGO offroad trucks competition is behind us. Truck building enthusiasts gathered on a hot summer friday afternoon in Tacen at the river Sava. After we checked out the terrain, we chose a part of the island and occupied it for about four hours. The organizers quickly set up a track, which already made the competitors heartbeat rise a bit.
The track had many different obstacles, from rocky limestone planes to steep hills in the second part. The first part of the track was pretty twisted and demanded a lot of manoeuvering skills from the truck operators and good hill climbing abilities
from the trucks. The trucks benefit mostly from agility and good spring geometry. The second part was more straight and the trucks got over a step to a forest environment. It was crucial to pick out the best route pass and over many tree roots on this steep grassy part until the very end of the course.
The trucks didn't have many similarities, but every registered competitor and their trucks finished, despite the hard and long track. The spectators were able to check out all the trucks and the competitors shared a lot of their ideas and opinions about different truck parts. We planed on having four different field events, but because of the limitations (time and parts), we only had the main event (the offroad race) and rope pulling. We gathered a lot of experience and some new ideas were born on that day, which we'll use on our next events.
