13th KockeFest – autumn 2014 took place on Saturday 18th October and Sunday 19th October in Koseze primary school, Ljubljana.
Similar to the exhibition in spring, the main display was a big city diorama with railway station, blocks of flats, modular houses, open air cinema and large commercial building, which, alongside the shop, restaurant and bowling alley, also housed Kocke klub headquarters. Using the official Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set, the famous scene of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man chase from Ghostbusters movie was also re-created in the city.
Two larger dioramas showed the world from Friends series and the space base on a remote planet, built in Classic space style. An interesting feature on Friends diorama were conversations between minifigs, presented with text in the form of comic-style speech bubbles. Space diorama contained a space base with hangar for space vehicles and a monorail running by, and an uncharted hilly terrain where alien creatures were hiding. The whole scene was complemented with some official sets from the early Classic space era.
Two smaller dioramas showed a scene from the battle of Kashyyyk from Star Wars series and scenes from medieval life, respectively. Some of the new official sets were also displayed, namely the entire collection of sets from Galaxy Squad series and the exclusive sets Sandcrawler UCS from Star Wars series, MetalBeard’s Sea Cow and Benny’s spaceship from The LEGO Movie series, Exo-Suit and Research Institute from LEGO Ideas series and the iconic Mini Morris from Creator Expert series.
For the youngest ones a big Duplo diorama was set, with railway running in different levels. The collection of numerous Technic vehicles also included work machines with display of their motorized functions, and a giant Land Rover Discovery 3 model. The exhibition concluded with various models displaying the practical use of Mindstorms robotics.
The visitors could again test their skills in driving competition with off-road vehicles and the younger ones could relax by playing with duplo and classic bricks and colouring LEGO colouring books. Another standard feature was the club corner with raffle where every ticket was winning a prize, and the LEGO bazaar selling bricks at bargain prices. A wide range of sets was also available at the sales area of Rega kvak toy shop.
Finally we would like to thank the participants, visitors, sponsors and all the others who contributed to 13th KockeFest to pass in a pleasant atmosphere, and we kindly invite all of them to join and support us in the future too.
