The 12th KockeFest – spring 2014 took place on Saturday 15th March and Sunday 16th March in Koseze primary school, Ljubljana.
The main display was the city diorama, designed in two parts. The city centre with typical modular houses was presented on one side, separated by a section of city walls from the new part of the city where blocks of flats, a football stadium, a fire station, a round glass building of modern design and a large railway station were located. Following the exhibitions of motorized details which could be turned on by the visitors themselves on previous KockeFests, the city life was variegated this time with an open air cinema on the city walls where clips of animations from the lego world were being played.
The individual dioramas were very diverse this time and showed the imperial army port from pirates era, the Blacktron space base on a remote green planet, the sea coast with a beach and a dune where a ship that had run aground was being rescued, the desert with Egyptian temple and the explorers and the landscape from the world of Friends series. For the first time on KockeFest the two famous Slovenian landmarks Predjama castle and Snežnik castle were shown together, accompanied by a microscale diorama with the scenes from Disney motion picture Frozen. The displays of original sets included the sets from Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series, the newest modular house Parisian Restaurant and all the minifigs from Collectible Minifigures series stacked on two revolving towers.
For the youngest ones a big Duplo zoo was set, encircled by the railway. The display of numerous technic vehicles also included similar sized airplanes from sculptures series. The exhibition concluded with a giant functional Ferris wheel, the presentation of Mindstorms EV3 models and NXT plotter and the demonstration of 3D printer making custom lego parts.
The visitors could again test their skills in driving competition with off-road vehicles and the younger ones could relax by playing with duplo and classic bricks and colouring lego colouring books. Another standard feature was the club corner and the LEGO bazaar selling used bricks at bargain prices. A wide range of sets was also available at the sales area of Rega kvak toy shop.
Finally we would like to thank the participants, visitors, sponsors and all the others who contributed to 12th KockeFest to pass in a pleasant atmosphere, and we kindly invite all of them to join and support us in the future too.
