The 11th KockeFest – autumn 2013 took place on Saturday 16th November and Sunday 17th November in Koseze primary school, Ljubljana.
Unlike in previous such events where the focus was on city display, the main exhibits of this event were two dioramas showing the winter landscape and the scenes from the life of the New World natives. The main part of the winter diorama was a snowy village, complete with church, Christmas fair, skaters on the ice rink and frozen pond and the hotel. Above the village the hill was rising, with ski slope and ski lift and a cliff with climbers, and even an avalanche that had slid down the slope of the hill. The diorama with the scenes from New World showed the coastal landscape with the natives' village, typical pyramidal temples and vessels while the European explorers were disembarking on the coast.
The individual exhibits showed the entire collection of the sets from The Lone Ranger series, the spaceship, diorama of Friends series, railway depot with steam engines, diorama showing rocky seashore where the wind power plant was being assembled, city diorama with railway station, passenger trains and the model of Kranj water tower, and the minifig-scale model of the local landmark Zmajski most (Dragon bridge) with scenes from medieval life.
For the youngest ones the Duplo farm and a small forest were set, encircled by the railway. The most recent Mindstorms EV3 model, technic vehicles and after a short break the ball-transporting model GBC (Great Ball Contraption) were also shown. The display area concluded with the presentation of some of this year’s exclusive sets, namely Sydney Opera House from Creator Expert, Ewok Village and Red Five X-Wing Starfighter from Star Wars and The Tower of Orthanc from The Lord of the Rings series.
The novelty on this KockeFest was the indoor trial truck competition where the visitors could test their skills in driving over the brick-built obstacles. As usual, the playground area was set where the younger visitors could relax by playing with duplo and classic bricks and colouring lego colouring books. Another standard feature was the club corner with raffle where every ticket was winning a prize, and the bazaar selling new and used bricks at bargain prices. A wide range of sets was also available at the sales area of Rega kvak toy shop.
Finally we would like to thank the participants, visitors, sponsors and all the others who contributed that 11th KockeFest passed in a pleasant atmosphere, and we kindly invite all of them to join and support us in the future too.
